Dorothy Day Canonization Takes Another Step Forward

On Wednesday, December 8 at 6:30pm CST, we will join Benedictine monasteries across the country by ringing our bells to celebrate the conclusion of the diocesan inquiry in support of the canonization of Dorothy Day, Servant of God. Through the inquiry, some 50,000 pages of supporting documents are being sent to Rome to demonstrate her holiness. We also celebrate and remember the special connection between our Abbey and Dorothy, as she was professed an oblate of St. Procopius Abbey in April of 1955.

Simultaneously on December 8, Timothy Cardinal Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York will be celebrating a Mass to commemorate the completion of the diocesan phase. The Mass will be live streamed from St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 6:30pm CST, at https://saintpatrickscathedral.org/live.

You can learn more about her canonization process at www.dorothydayguild.org.
